Choice between dual / non-dual

  • Dual: You undertake the degree programme in partnership with your company. In this case, you will also complete the project module within your company. Ideally, this will give you an insight into other areas of the business.
  • Non-dual: You undertake the degree programme without a company. You will complete the project module at one of the programme’s partner companies.

If your employer covers all or part of your tuition fees, both sides stand to benefit: you’ll gain targeted professional development and acquire the expertise needed for future leadership roles. Your employer will have an ideal tool for staff development and retention and will be part of an innovative professional development programme. Talk to your employer about this opportunity!

In addition, there are numerous scholarship providers and foundations that offer financial support to students on non-consecutive Master’s programmes.

Many German states offer funding for further training if you live or work in that state. You can find information and funding schemes at state level on www.foerderdatenbank.de, the website of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and on the websites of the state governments.

You can claim the costs of professional training on your tax return as business expenses if you are self-employed, or as income-related expenses if you are an employee.

Depending on the level of your personal income – and therefore your personal tax rate – the tax office indirectly contributes up to 50 per cent towards the costs of your MBA programme through tax relief. Expenses that are tax-deductible include tuition fees, specialist literature, study materials, application costs and travel expenses. Furthermore, the interest on an education loan can be claimed for tax purposes.

EPI-Scholarship

EPI-Scholarship

The media industry is a dynamic and multifaceted field that is constantly on the lookout for new talent and innovative ideas. To give media professionals the support they need, the Erich Pommer Institute is awarding two partial scholarships for the part-time Master’s programme in Digital Media Law and Management (LL.M. | MBA).

Each scholarship covers 50 % of the tuition fees and is aimed at media professionals who are keen to develop their skills in order to take the next step in their careers, be optimally prepared for the future of the digital media industry, and realise their full potential.

In this context, the scholarships are intended not only to promote individual careers but also to enrich the future of the media industry as a whole. Applicants for the partial scholarships should demonstrate a strong commitment to their work, a clear vision for their professional future and the potential to exert a positive influence on the media landscape through their work.

The Erich Pommer Institut is committed to equal opportunities and rejects any form of discrimination. In doing so, we recognise the intersectional reality of discrimination.

When developing our programmes and making all associated decisions, we continually strive to take the specific needs of marginalised groups into account as effectively as possible and to make an active contribution to equal opportunities.

When awarding partial scholarships, in addition to motivation and career prospects, we take particular account of individual barriers to accessing higher education, such as financial, structural or biographical factors.

*The calculation is based on the full amount of tuition fees. The scholarship cannot be combined with other discounts.

PLEASE NOTE: The application for admission to the Master’s programme must be completed and submitted separately. Your scholarship application will only be valid once this has been received!

Mode of study & programme structure

Yes. The DMLM Master’s programme is designed to be studied alongside work and can be combined with full-time or part-time employment.

Yes, a double degree is possible, provided that the admission criteria for both degrees are met.

To this end, two semesters are added after obtaining the first degree to catch up on the relevant modules and write the second Master's thesis. A 50% discount is granted on the second degree.

Both MBA and LL.M. curricula have a standard study period of two years (4 semesters):

  • 1st–2nd semester:

    • A total of 10 modules must be selected from the 12 available

    • 6 core modules (mandatory for all students)

    • 3 elective modules in the chosen programme (MBA or LL.M.)

    • 1 elective module from the other programme

  • 3rd semester:

    • Practical project (usually as a group project, alternatively individually)

    • With at least 3 years of relevant work experience the project can be recognised.

  • 4th semester:

    • Master's thesis

The modular structure of the programme allows for a flexible design of the study content. Therefore, part-time study is easily possible.

In principle, part-time study means that you complete only 15 ECTS instead of 30 ECTS per semester in the first two semesters, thus doubling the standard study period from 4 to 6 semesters.

The Master’s programme is largely delivered face-to-face in Potsdam-Babelsberg:

    • Standard duration of study: 4 semesters

    • 48 days (29 working days) of face-to-face teaching, usually Fri–Sat

    • Exams usually take place on Thursdays | 120 ECTS credits

Qualification & academic framework

Upon successful completion, students will receive an academic Master's degree:

  • LL.M. (Master of Laws)

  • MBA (Master of Business Administration)

  • or – if both Master’s programmes are completed – both degrees

The degrees are joint academic qualifications awarded by the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and the University of Potsdam, and comprise 120 ECTS credits.

  • Students on the LL.M. Master’s programme are enrolled at the University of Potsdam.
  • Students on the MBA Master’s programme are enrolled at the KONRAD WOLF Film University Babelsberg.
  • If both Master’s programmes are chosen, enrolment takes place in succession. Credits already earned are automatically recognised; students need only complete the remaining modules and the relevant dissertation.

Instalment payment
Students who wish to pay in instalments pay at the beginning of each semester in five instalments, with the enrolment fee and the instalment for the first semester to be paid relatively soon.
