We are delighted to announce a new partnership between the European Film Business and Law LL.M. | MBA master's programme at the Erich Pommer Institut and VISION KINO – Netzwerk für Film- und Medienkompetenz, Germany's national network for film and media literacy.
VISION KINO is a non-profit public-private partnership backed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the German Federal Film Board (FFA), the Deutsche Kinemathek and the German film industry. Its mission is to strengthen film and media literacy among children and young people across Germany. Its best-known initiative, the nationwide SchulKinoWochen (School Cinema Weeks), is organised with partners in all 16 federal states and brings around one million pupils into cinemas, turning the cinema into a classroom. This work touches on a question that matters to the entire industry: how young people discover film, and how the cinema audiences of tomorrow are built.
The partnership is part of the programme's project module. Students of the fourth cohort, who are now in their third semester, work in interdisciplinary teams on practical projects in collaboration with industry partners or their own employers. The topics are set by the partners and focus on concrete business or legal challenges within the European film and television industry. Alongside this year's other partners, VISION KINO will set one of the project challenges for the students. Throughout the module, students are supported by industry professionals and lecturers, with the process structured through kick-off sessions and group presentations.
With this collaboration, the Erich Pommer Institut continues to connect academic study with the day-to-day realities of the industry. Students gain direct insight into the intersection of film culture, education and business, and the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in their first year to a live challenge.
